Boathouses on The Columbia 2017 $950 16.5 in x 21 in Oil on Canvas - Nicely framed The Portland Yacht Club hugs the southern bank of the Columbia River in Oregon, CA. Our friends, Chris and Shirley Finks, gracious hosts and owners of the venerable Louie, provided this view at my favorite time of day - right before dinner time. I'm an avid student of these folks' joie de vivre.

Best of all, just a few acres of oranges and a sweet little red barn. Something to fuss over when you want to slow down at the office. Enough for the grandkids to have a nice fruit stand and sell at the Farmers Market. A view to rest your eyes on when the world seems ugly and mean. Something vibrant and wholesome that you built.

Wild Oats At Dusk 2018 $400 9 in x 12 in Oil on Panel, nicely framed If you're lucky, you catch this incredible moment in the spring. The last of the day falling behind the trees, eddys of cool air brushing the feathered tips of the oats - they're still fresh and new after the rains, but in this final half-light of day, they're neither green nor gold nor blue. All these improbable colors that you only see at dusk.

Ripping For Almonds 2017-2018 $950 24 in x 36 in Oil on panel I live in a place of amazing, beautiful, brutal works of labor in Agriculture - human and machine shaping the land. Literally unearthing the treasure locked below with a seven foot long ripping blade. The furrows I stood in were hip high, the loose dirt trembling and slipping down around my ankles. As the Cat rumbled away on its slow crawl, it took the earthquake with it. Soon the saplings will be planted and they'll thrive - given such a fertile beginning.

Montana Morning #2 2018 $600 16 in x 20 in Oil on Canvas This is a kitchen window view - On a sub-zero February morning, I stood there with my coffee and got lost in the petal pink snow and lavender shadows. And then there was the mysterious blue of the deeper shadows. It made me grateful for my warm perch in that place of beauty.

Farmhouse 2 2017 SOLD 16 x 20" Acrylic on Canvas This proud old house stands like a sentinel in a field of three year old almonds. The City boundaries have crept to the road it faces and traffic whizzes by on the way to new schools and subdivisions just beyond. Its paint has grayed and peeled. The screens are torn and vandals have broken the windows. But the clean lines of the quintessential American Farmhouse remain. This old beauty glows in the rise and fall of the sun and I'm grateful to the Farmer who hasn't had the heart to tear it down. This painting is part of a Private Collection.
